Imran Khan, PTI Leaders Booked in Multiple Cases Following November 24 Protests
Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with his sister Aleema Khan and ex-President Arif Alvi, has been named in a case related to the November 24 protests. The case, registered at the Taxila police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act, also implicates Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and senior PTI leaders Shehryar Riaz, Hammad Azhar, and Asad Qaiser.
The charges include robbery, attempted murder, and sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, with accusations against the PTI leadership for allegedly inciting violence and damaging public property during the demonstrations.
In a separate development, another First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Dhamyal police station in Rawalpindi. This case involves Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, Aleema Khan, and PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur, with allegations including terrorism and other violations of the Pakistan Penal Code. Over 200 individuals, including prominent PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, and Hammad Azhar, have also been named in the FIR.
Protest Updates
The PTI protest, called by Imran Khan, failed to reach Islamabad and was reportedly halted at Burhan Interchange. Despite this, convoys led by Chief Minister Gandapur resumed their journey towards the federal capital, according to PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai.
Meanwhile, authorities in Multan division have detained approximately 1,257 PTI workers, including members of the party’s national and provincial assemblies, according to party sources.
This development marks a significant escalation in the standoff between the government and PTI, as tensions remain high following the nationwide protests.
