Six Terrorists Killed in Security Operation in Karak: ISPR
Karak: Security forces killed six terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced on Friday.
According to an ISPR statement, the operation was launched after intelligence reports confirmed the presence of terrorists in the area. Security forces swiftly engaged the militants, eliminating six individuals identified as members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“A sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining threats,” the statement said, reaffirming the security forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terror-related incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the TTP’s decision to end its ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022.
Last week, security forces killed 13 terrorists in five separate operations across KP. On February 15, four soldiers were martyred, while 15 terrorists were neutralized in separate IBOs. Additionally, on Tuesday, 30 militants were killed in an operation in South Waziristan.
A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies highlighted 2024 as the deadliest year for Pakistan’s security forces in a decade. The report revealed that 685 security personnel lost their lives in 444 terror attacks. ISPR further disclosed that security forces carried out 59,775 operations last year, resulting in the elimination of 925 terrorists, while 383 officers and soldiers were martyred.
Security forces continue to conduct counterterrorism operations to restore stability in affected regions.
