Pakistani Forces Eliminate Afghan Militants in Counterterrorism Operations
Islamabad, March 3 – Pakistani security forces have confirmed the identity of an Afghan militant killed during a recent operation in Pakistan, revealing his involvement in terrorism-related activities.
According to security sources, on February 28, an operation conducted in Ghulam Khan Kalay resulted in the elimination of 14 militants. Among them was an Afghan national, Mujeebur Rehman, also known as Mansoor, son of Mirza Khan. Mujeeb, a native of Dandar village in Maidan Wardak province, Afghanistan, served as a commander of the third battalion at Afghanistan’s National Military Academy.
In a related development, security forces carried out another operation on January 30 in Dera Ismail Khan, killing an Afghan militant identified as Badruddin. Security officials revealed that Badruddin, the son of Maulvi Ghulam Muhammad, was a lieutenant in the Afghan army and the son of the deputy governor of Bagdhis province.
These operations come amid a surge in terrorist incidents in Pakistan. Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan. However, the Afghan Taliban-led administration has consistently denied these allegations.
The two neighboring countries share a porous 2,500-kilometer border, which plays a crucial role in regional trade and cross-border interactions. Tensions have heightened in recent months over security concerns, further complicating diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
