Suicide Blast at Darul Uloom Haqqania: JUI-S Leader Maulana Hamidul Haq Among Four Killed

Nowshera: A devastating suicide blast struck Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nowshera district, claiming the lives of at least four people, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-S (JUI-S) leader Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, and injuring several others, government and police officials confirmed.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed, the explosion ripped through the main prayer hall of the seminary during Friday prayers. “It was a suicide attack, and three policemen were also injured in the incident,” Hameed told Dawn.com.

Speaking to Samaa TV, the KP IG indicated that Maulana Haqqani appeared to be the primary target of the attack. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Adviser to the KP Chief Minister, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, paid tribute to the late religious scholar. “Maulana Hamidul Haq’s martyrdom is an irreparable loss. His immense contributions to Islam will always be remembered,” he stated.

Security forces and emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, while the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.
