COAS Reaffirms Commitment to Defeating Terrorist Networks During Orakzai Visit
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s determination to dismantle hostile terrorist networks and eliminate illegal activities, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
During his visit to the Orakzai District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Munir met with troops who had recently taken part in counter-terrorism operations in the Tirah Valley. The army chief was given a comprehensive briefing on the security situation in the region, including ongoing intelligence-based operations and the multi-dimensional strategies being employed to ensure stability in the newly merged districts.
General Munir commended the high morale and preparedness of the troops, stating that the peace achieved through significant national sacrifices would be safeguarded at all costs. “The sacrifices of martyrs strengthen our resolve to continue the fight with dedication and a spirit of sacrifice,” he remarked.
The army chief also praised the crucial role of the police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting that the Pakistan Army would continue to fully support these institutions to enhance their capabilities in the merged districts. He emphasized the ongoing need for capacity building within these agencies.
General Munir further appreciated the vital role played by the local communities in supporting security forces, stating that their positive involvement is essential for maintaining peace in the region.
During his visit, the COAS laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Memorial) and was welcomed by Corps Commander Peshawar.
According to ISPR, the visit underscores the Pakistan Army’s continued focus on counter-terrorism efforts and highlights the importance of collaboration between the military, law enforcement agencies, and local communities in ensuring regional security and stability.
