Court Orders Seizure of PTI Leader Zulfi Bukhari’s Properties in Corruption Case
On Friday, an accountability court in Islamabad ordered the confiscation of properties belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari, who is an absconder in a £190 million corruption case. The ruling was delivered by Accountability Court Judge Nisar Javed Rana following a request from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to seize Bukhari’s assets.
The court ordered the seizure of several properties owned by Bukhari, including a 30-kanal plot and a four-kanal plot in Islamabad, as well as a 1,210-kanal property in the Attock district, which includes a 91-kanal plot. The judge has asked for a report on the matter to be submitted within seven days.
This action follows a petition filed by NAB on September 1, seeking the seizure of Bukhari’s assets as part of the ongoing investigation into the corruption case. Additionally, the Ministry of Interior approved the issuance of a red warrant against Bukhari earlier in the week. The red warrant, which is an international notice issued through Interpol, seeks his arrest and extradition.
In a letter to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the interior ministry directed the agency to contact Interpol’s headquarters in France to facilitate the issuance of the red warrant for Bukhari.
