Newly-Wed Bride Flees with Cash and Valuables on Wedding Night in Gujranwala

In a shocking turn of events, a newly-wed bride reportedly fled after drugging and robbing her groom on their wedding night in Punjab’s Gujranwala. The incident came to light on Tuesday when the groom filed a complaint at the local police station.

According to the complaint, the bride served her husband milk laced with sedatives, rendering him unconscious. She then made off with cash, jewelry, and other valuables from the house. The groom discovered the theft upon waking and, unable to reach his wife or her family, found their phones switched off.

This incident mirrors a similar case from Multan, where another groom was deceived by a bride from Khanewal. In that case, Makhdoom Rasheed had traveled for his wedding only to find that the bride and her family had disappeared after receiving Rs 300,000, which he had paid as part of the arrangements.

Such incidents highlight the prevalence of fraud cases around marriage arrangements in some areas, raising concerns about safeguards for prospective brides and grooms. Police are investigating the latest case in Gujranwala as efforts continue to locate the missing bride and recover the stolen valuables.
