Special Flight Brings 70 Pakistanis Evacuated from Lebanon to Karachi
A special flight carrying 70 Pakistani citizens evacuated from Lebanon landed in Karachi on Wednesday morning. The repatriated individuals were warmly received at the airport by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and provincial minister Ikramullah Dharejo.
According to the Foreign Office, the Pakistanis were evacuated from Lebanon after traveling by road to Damascus, Syria, from where they were airlifted to Pakistan. Among the evacuees were four Pakistani nationals from Syria.
Pakistan’s embassies in Lebanon and Syria made all necessary arrangements for the evacuation, including security, transport, and food, to ensure a smooth and safe journey back home.
The decision to repatriate Pakistani citizens was made following the escalation of Israeli aggression in Lebanon, with the government prioritizing the safety of its nationals.
Earlier, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority (DGCAA) had granted permission for a special flight by Cham Wings Airlines to carry out the repatriation. The Airbus A320 is scheduled to transport a total of 180 Pakistanis from Lebanon back to Pakistan within the next 48 hours, ensuring a coordinated effort between the Pakistani ambassador in Lebanon and aviation authorities.
