Heavy Monsoon Rains Expected in Sindh, Warns Chief Meteorologist

A strong monsoon system is set to bring heavy rainfall to Sindh, particularly affecting the districts of Thatta, Badin, and Karachi, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz announced on Tuesday.

The weather system is expected to cause significant rainfall, with Thatta and Badin districts likely to receive between 300 to 400mm of rain, while Karachi could experience 150 to 200mm, according to the Met Office.

As the weather system moves closer, rainfall is predicted to intensify across the region. Karachi and other parts of Sindh are forecasted to see heavy downpours between August 28 and 30, with occasional breaks in the rain.

“The rain will begin in the afternoon and continue until August 30,” Sarfaraz stated, expressing concerns about potential urban flooding in Karachi due to the expected heavy rainfall.
