Karachi Police Arrest 17 Suspects After Deadly Bugti Clan Shootout
Karachi, [Date] — Karachi police have arrested 17 suspects following a deadly shootout between members of the Bugti clan, which left five people dead and two others critically injured. The incident occurred late Thursday night near the residence of Fahad Ahmed Nawaz Bugti in the Defence Housing Authority’s (DHA) Khayaban-i-Nishat area.
The clash involved two groups, one led by Fahad Ahmed Nawaz Bugti, the nephew of the late Baloch chieftain Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, and the other by Ali Haider Bugti, also a maternal nephew of the Bugti chieftain. The gunfight resulted in the death of 50-year-old Fahad, while Ali Haider was injured.
Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) South Asad Raza confirmed that, in addition to Fahad, four other individuals lost their lives, and two people were injured, correcting earlier reports that mentioned three injuries.
In a statement, DIG Raza said, “Police took swift action, detaining 17 individuals associated with the Bugti clan, including two gunmen.” He added that the suspects belonged to rival factions within the family.
“Eight individuals were arrested shortly after the incident, while the remaining suspects were detained early Friday morning,” Raza explained.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the confrontation and hold those responsible accountable.
