Sun to Align Directly Over Holy Kaaba in Makkah Today
The sun will align with the holy Kaaba at Makkah’s Grand Mosque on Monday (today) at 14:18 Pakistan Standard Time (PST) and 12:18 Saudi time.
The sun’s disc will be directly overhead the Kaaba, and for a short while, it will be shadowless.
Because of its location between the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer, the Grand Mosque experiences the celestial phenomena known as “zero shadow” twice a year. During this phenomena, the shadow of the sacred structure is temporarily removed.
The sun moves 23.5 degrees north and south of the celestial equator as a result of the Earth’s axial tilt. During the equinox, locations situated above the equator get direct sunlight.
