Security Forces Eliminate 10 Terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Security forces have successfully neutralized at least 10 terrorists in five separate operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Friday.
According to a statement from the military’s media wing, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the general area of Khulachi in Dera Ismail Khan district.
“During the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in four terrorists being eliminated,” the ISPR reported.
Additionally, security forces carried out four separate encounters in the general areas of Datta Khel, Hassan Khel, Ghulam Khan, and Mir Ali in North Waziristan district. During these exchanges of fire, six more terrorists were neutralized by the troops.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed individuals, who, according to the ISPR, had been actively involved in terrorist activities targeting security forces and innocent civilians in these regions.
Furthermore, sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the area. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, stating that “Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.”
These operations come amid a rise in violent attacks since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan experiencing a significant surge in militant activity.
The year 2024 has been particularly deadly for Pakistan’s civil and military security forces, with at least 685 fatalities and 444 terrorist attacks reported, according to the “CRSS Annual Security Report 2024” issued by the Centre for Security and Strategic Studies.
