Bushra Bibi Granted Interim Bail in 32 Cases by ATC
Rawalpindi: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Saturday granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in 32 cases until January 13, her counsel confirmed.
The cases include 23 related to the May 9 violence and others filed in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal. Bushra Bibi appeared before the court alongside her counsel, Faisal Malik, and submitted surety bonds to secure bail.
After the hearing, Faisal Malik told reporters that the cases against Bushra Bibi were “politically motivated and driven by vengeance.” He noted that she had voluntarily surrendered to the ATC and that 23 of the cases against her were registered in Rawalpindi alone.
Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants Suspended
In a separate development, an accountability court in Rawalpindi recently suspended non-bailable arrest warrants issued against Bushra Bibi in a £190 million case. The hearing, presided over by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, has been adjourned until December 12.
During the hearing, Imran Khan informed the court of his intention to present witnesses in his defense, while Bushra Bibi declined to produce any witnesses.
FIR Filed Over Islamabad Protest
Bushra Bibi, along with Imran Khan and other PTI leaders, has also been named in a First Information Report (FIR) filed over the deaths of three Rangers personnel during a party protest in Islamabad on November 26. The FIR, registered at Ramna Police Station, accuses them of murder, terrorism, and other charges.
The legal proceedings against Bushra Bibi come amid a broader crackdown on PTI leaders and members following incidents of violence and unrest, intensifying the political and judicial challenges faced by the party.
