Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi Named in FIR Over Deaths of Rangers Personnel During PTI Protest
An FIR has been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and several party leaders in connection with the deaths of three Pakistan Rangers personnel during a protest in Islamabad on November 26.
The FIR, filed at Ramna Police Station, accuses Imran Khan and others of murder, terrorism, and conspiracy under the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Allegations of Conspiracy
According to the FIR, the alleged plan to attack the Rangers personnel was orchestrated during a meeting at Adiala Jail between Imran Khan and PTI leaders. It claims that Bushra Bibi and other party workers executed the plan by inciting protesters to target the Rangers.
Several prominent PTI figures are also named in the FIR, including Omar Ayub, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Gandapur, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Raoof Hassan, and Hammad Azhar.
The Incident
The violent incident occurred during PTI protests in Islamabad, where a vehicle driven by an unidentified individual ran over three Rangers personnel on Srinagar Highway, killing them on the spot. Four Rangers soldiers were martyred, and five others, including policemen, were injured in the late-night violence.
Security Measures
In response to the incident, the Pakistan Army was deployed to Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution. Security forces were given shoot-at-sight orders to prevent further unrest, according to official sources.
The deaths of the Rangers personnel mark a grim escalation in tensions between PTI supporters and security forces, as legal and political battles intensify around the party’s leadership.
