Bushra Bibi Expresses Loss of Faith in Law During Court Hearing

Islamabad: Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, stated during a court appearance on Tuesday that her “faith in the law has been lost.”

The statement was made at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing in Islamabad regarding the Rangers accident case. The case concerns the death of four Rangers personnel in an alleged hit-and-run incident on Srinagar Highway during PTI’s November 26 protests, with conflicting claims presented by the government and the party.

High-Profile Case and Allegations

The first information report (FIR) in the case names several prominent PTI figures, including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Hammad Azhar, and Raoof Hassan.

The FIR was registered at the Ramna police station under several charges, including:

  • Section 302: Murder
  • Section 324: Attempted murder
  • Section 120B: Criminal conspiracy
  • Section 114: Abettor present when the offense was committed
  • Provisions under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, alongside terrorism-related charges.

The FIR alleged that Imran Khan issued instructions to party leaders, including his wife Bushra and sister Aleema Khan, to make “all-out efforts” for his release from jail, allegedly suggesting they “set anything on fire or kill anyone for this purpose.”

Court Proceedings

During the hearing, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the case, which previously directed police to produce suspects on December 26. Addressing the judge, Bushra Bibi voiced her concerns over the judicial process following her and her husband’s treatment, adding, “After what happened to Imran Khan and me, my faith in the law has been lost.”

This high-profile case remains under scrutiny, reflecting the ongoing tensions between PTI leadership and the government amidst the political and legal challenges faced by the party.
