Father and Son Killed by Train While Taking Selfie in Karachi
Karachi: A tragic incident occurred in the Landhi area of Karachi, where a man and his minor son lost their lives after being hit by a train while attempting to take a selfie on the railway tracks.
The victims were identified as Jamil, a laborer, and his 5-year-old son, Safiullah. According to police reports, Jamil took his son to the railway tracks for selfies and group photos. However, while capturing a selfie, he failed to notice an approaching train. Both father and son were run over and died on the spot.
Following the incident, their bodies were handed over to relatives and transported to their native city, Jacobabad. The last selfies they took have now become a heartbreaking reminder of the tragedy.
Despite repeated warnings from railway and police officials, citizens continue to trespass on railway tracks, risking their lives. Pakistan Railways declined to comment on the incident. Locals have urged the Railways police to enhance awareness campaigns and take preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
Similar Incident in Sahiwal
In a similar incident earlier, a 23-year-old youth lost his life while attempting to take a selfie on the railway track in Harappa village, Sahiwal district. The deceased, identified as Irfan, was hit by a speeding train and died on the spot.
Rescue teams arrived promptly and shifted the body to a nearby hospital. After completing legal formalities, the police handed over Irfan’s body to his family.
These incidents highlight the dangers of taking selfies near railway tracks, emphasizing the need for greater public awareness and caution.
