Bushra Bibi Reportedly Moved to Undisclosed Location in KP Amid Crackdown on PTI Protests
Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of former First Lady Bushra Bibi, confirmed that Bushra Bibi has been relocated to an undisclosed location in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following intensified operations against PTI protesters in Islamabad.
Speaking on ARY News’ program Khabar, Maryam disclosed that Bushra Bibi’s phone and the numbers of those accompanying her are currently unreachable. She managed to contact her sister through alternative sources but noted that Bushra Bibi’s location was changed after their conversation.
Maryam highlighted that Bushra Bibi had expressed a strong desire to stay at D-Chowk during the protests but was compelled to leave due to escalating tensions and gunfire in the area. “She did not want to leave the protest,” Maryam said, adding that efforts to connect with her sister had been ongoing for some time.
The situation unfolded on November 26, when Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reportedly fled D-Chowk in the same vehicle as law enforcement launched a large-scale operation against PTI protesters. Hundreds of Punjab and Islamabad police officers were deployed to clear protest sites, including Blue Area, Khyber Chowk, and Kulsoom Plaza. Authorities arrested approximately 450 PTI activists during the crackdown.
Maryam expressed concern over her sister’s circumstances, emphasizing the lack of communication with family members and the uncertainty surrounding her current location.
The developments come amid heightened political tensions and intensified efforts by authorities to disperse PTI-led demonstrations in the capital. Further updates on Bushra Bibi’s status and the broader political situation are awaited.
