Internet Services Resume in Twin Cities as PTI Protest Ends
Internet services have partially resumed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following the conclusion of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in the federal capital. Services had been suspended for two days on the orders of the Interior Ministry amid the unrest.
Despite the restoration, users report glitches in accessing social media apps.
Meanwhile, authorities have begun removing containers from roads across the twin cities, signaling a return to normalcy. In Rawalpindi, containers are being lifted from major routes, including the Faizabad Flyover and Murree Road. The Faizabad Interchange, closed for five days, has now reopened.
Motorways connecting major cities, including the M1 (Islamabad to Lahore), M2 (Sialkot to Lahore), M3, M4, M5, and the Multan-Sukkur Motorway, have also reopened for traffic after four days of closure.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the cleared areas between D-Chowk and Khyber Plaza, commending the efforts of law enforcement agencies in restoring order. He praised the bravery of personnel from the Rangers, Islamabad Police, Punjab Police, and the Frontier Corps, who played a vital role during the protests.
