Father Arrested for Torturing Minor Son in SITE Area, Karachi
Karachi: A harrowing case of child abuse emerged in the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) area, where a father brutally tortured his young son. The incident occurred in the Bawani Chali neighborhood, where the father allegedly beat the boy with an iron rod and forced him to sit on a hot skillet (tawa).
The ordeal came to light after a video of the injured child showing his burn marks to a neighbor went viral on social media. Following public outrage, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Najibullah, and registered a case against him on behalf of the state.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kemari Faizan confirmed that the accused had been handed over to the investigation police for further inquiry. During the preliminary investigation, Najibullah reportedly admitted to the abuse, stating he was angry because his son would leave the house without informing the family.
The injured child has been shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
This case echoes an earlier incident reported in Karachi earlier this year, where two siblings, Ayaan and Anabiya, went missing from North Nazimabad.
The siblings, upon being found, revealed that they had been subjected to regular physical abuse by their maternal grandmother and aunt. According to their statement, they had spent a night at the home of a relative who had found them wandering the streets.
Rashid, their uncle, stated that the children had been living with him following their mother’s move to Dubai for work after her divorce. Despite efforts by the family to locate the missing children, they had ultimately sought police assistance.
Both cases have reignited concerns about child abuse in the city and underscored the need for stronger protective measures for vulnerable children.
