Twelve Security Personnel Martyred in Suicide Attack on Check Post in Bannu
BANNU: At least twelve security personnel, including ten soldiers and two members of the Frontier Constabulary, were martyred in a suicide attack on a joint check post in the Malikhel area of Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants, referred to as Khwarij, attempted to attack the check post. The vigilant troops successfully thwarted their entry, forcing the attackers to detonate an explosive-laden vehicle against the perimeter wall of the post.
The powerful explosion caused a section of the wall to collapse and damaged nearby infrastructure, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
Following the attack, security forces launched a thorough sanitization operation in the area to apprehend those responsible. The ISPR emphasized that the perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice.
The military’s statement reiterated its unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, asserting that the sacrifices of these brave personnel strengthen the nation’s resolve in this fight.
