Imran Khan Calls on PTI Supporters for Nationwide Anti-Government Protest on November 24
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has issued a “final call” for supporters to join a large-scale anti-government protest on November 24, marching toward Islamabad. Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, shared the announcement, emphasizing that the PTI leadership and supporters worldwide will participate.
In Rawalpindi, Chaudhry highlighted that Khan has formed a committee to oversee the protest, though he withheld names due to concerns about potential arrests. The committee has been given authority to manage and potentially call off the protest, ensuring a collective decision-making process rather than leaving it to a single individual.
This protest call comes amid discontent within PTI ranks, with lingering frustrations from recent events. Supporters voiced disappointment after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur concluded a rally in Swabi without a confirmed protest date, following an earlier Islamabad protest that ended unexpectedly. Gandapur has since confirmed he will lead a convoy from KP to Islamabad on Khan’s orders.
The PTI’s demands include repealing the 26th Constitutional Amendment, restoring what they call the “PTI mandate,” and releasing imprisoned party workers without trial. Some senior PTI leaders had reportedly urged Khan to proceed with caution, warning of potential repercussions if the protest is not thoroughly planned.
In response, Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, warned PTI supporters that Khan’s “do-or-die” call could lead to a crackdown, accusing him of risking the safety of party members by encouraging such drastic measures.
