ECC Approves Rs 1.8 Billion for Overhaul of VVIP Planes of President, PM

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of Pakistan’s federal cabinet has approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs 1.8 billion to overhaul the engines of two VVIP planes used by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for official duties.

The decision was made during an ECC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, which reviewed multiple proposals across sectors.

A press release stated, “The ECC considered and approved a Technical Supplementary Grant to the tune of Rs. 1.8 billion to the Ministry of Defence for overhaul of engines of two VVIP aircraft being utilized for state duties with the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

The ECC also addressed a proposal from the Ministry of National Food Security & Research concerning the distribution of wheat stocks held by the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to wheat-deficient regions for the 2024-25 Food Year. The ECC reaffirmed its previous allocation ratio, established on February 1, 2024, as the basis for distributing both domestic and imported wheat stocks.

The committee directed that all seven wheat-deficient regions lift the wheat per their demand commitments for the upcoming food year. It also emphasized that agencies and regions must test the wheat prior to distribution to ensure quality and safety for consumption.
