Pakistan Foreign Office Calls Chinese Ambassador’s Remarks “Surprising,” Emphasizes Diplomatic Protocols

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has responded to recent remarks by the Chinese Ambassador, describing them as unexpected and not aligned with the traditional diplomatic practices between Pakistan and China. “We are tightening protocols regarding the visits of ambassadors or groups of ambassadors to other cities,” stated FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during a briefing.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic protocol, Baloch noted, “Foreign ambassadors are our guests, and we are committed to providing them with comprehensive security.”

The statement comes after Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, speaking at a seminar in Islamabad, expressed concerns over two deadly terrorist attacks targeting Chinese nationals within six months. He urged the Pakistani government to take decisive action against anti-China terrorist groups, describing the security of Chinese citizens as China’s “biggest concern” regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Ambassador Zaidong stated that he hoped Pakistan would implement strengthened security measures to protect Chinese personnel, institutions, and CPEC projects. “Pakistan should severely punish the perpetrators and crack down on all anti-China terrorist groups,” he added.
