In a First for Pakistan, Airbus A310 Moves by Road from Karachi Airport to Hyderabad
For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a passenger plane is being transported overland from Karachi to Hyderabad. The Airbus A310, classified as scrap, is being relocated using specialized trucks and trailers in an unprecedented logistical operation.
The transfer began at Karachi Airport, where the aircraft was carefully loaded onto a container and moved onto the motorway. The unusual sight of a massive passenger plane on the road astonished onlookers at the toll plaza, with many stopping to take selfies and document the event.
The transport is being conducted in line with standard operating procedures, and the motorway police were informed ahead of time to ensure smooth passage. Due to the plane’s size and weight, it will travel at reduced speeds for safety.
Upon arrival in Hyderabad, the Airbus A310 will be stationed at the Civil Aviation Training Institute, where it will serve as a valuable asset for training aviation professionals.
Notably, similar large aircraft road transfers have taken place before in Saudi Arabia, a feat also made possible with assistance from skilled Pakistani truck drivers.
