Hostages Rescued in Joint Operations by Police and Rangers in Katcha Area

In a series of coordinated operations, Police and Rangers rescued two hostages from separate katcha (riverine) areas in Sindh after exchanges of gunfire with bandits, according to local police sources.

The first rescue operation took place in the Garhi Tegho katcha area, where law enforcement engaged in a shootout with bandits, leading to the successful recovery of a hostage identified as Sherdil, who had been kidnapped from Karachi’s Singer Chowrangi. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahzaib Chachar reported that the bandits fled the scene during the firefight, and a search operation is underway to apprehend the suspects.

In a related incident, a team from the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) successfully rescued another hostage in a raid conducted in Shikarpur. The victim, Noor Mohammad, had reportedly been lured from Karachi to Shikarpur through a “honey trap” on September 19. After the abduction, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 10 million rupees for his release. SSP Aneel Haider stated that the case was filed at Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Noorjahan police station, and a special police unit was deployed to secure Noor Mohammad’s safe recovery.

The AVCC team conducted the raid in the Begari Katcha area of Shikarpur, resulting in Noor Mohammad’s successful rescue. Both operations highlight the ongoing efforts by Sindh’s law enforcement agencies to tackle organized crime and ensure public safety across the region.
