Security Forces Eliminate Eight Militants in Bannu Operation; Major and Two Soldiers Martyred
Pakistan’s security forces successfully eliminated eight militants, identified as “Khawarij,” in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in the Bakka Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district on October 30, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The intense operation, however, resulted in the martyrdom of two soldiers, including a major who bravely led his team in combat.
The military’s media wing shared that the operation was launched based on intelligence reports of militant presence. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, during which Major Atif Khalil, aged 31 and a resident of District Sudhanuti in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. Two other soldiers, Naik Azad Ullah, 36, from District Karak, and Lance Naik Ghazanfar Abbas, 35, from District Layyah, also embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The operation saw Pakistani troops effectively engage the militants, leading to the deaths of eight fighters and injuries to seven others. A thorough search operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
“Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism. The sacrifices of these brave soldiers strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR statement added.
