Foreign Tourists Robbed by Fake Police in Karachi’s DHA
Amid escalating lawlessness in Karachi, four Polish tourists were robbed by criminals posing as police officers in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The tourists, who arrived in Karachi on Sunday, were on their way to buy SIM cards at Clifton’s Dolmen Mall when they were stopped near Khayaban-e-Mujahid and deprived of $1,080 (approximately Rs300,942).
Disheartened by the incident, the tourists left Pakistan the following day without filing a formal complaint.
Police, however, recorded their statements and are attempting to identify the assailants through CCTV footage.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah condemned the incident, highlighting that such acts harm the country’s image.
He ordered the Additional Inspector General of Karachi Police to arrest the suspects promptly and ensure strict legal action.
The chief minister also directed police to expedite the implementation of the Safe City project to monitor streets and highways effectively.
