KP Chief Minister Confident Imran Khan’s Release is Imminent, Denies Any Deals

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Ameen Gandapur expressed confidence that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan would soon be released from jail, labeling the charges against him as “fake.”

In a conversation with The News on Tuesday, Gandapur refrained from confirming or denying any role in the recent release of Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife. When asked about his involvement, he sidestepped a direct response, stating that her release was a result of a court order. “Bushra Bibi was jailed on baseless charges, and her release was granted by the court,” he said, adding that he expects Khan to be released for similar reasons.

On the topic of potential assurances behind Bushra Bibi’s release, Gandapur was firm, saying, “We don’t believe in deals and won’t enter into one.” When asked about his certainty regarding Khan’s release, he cited the “baseless” nature of the charges against the PTI chairman.

Responding to questions about PTI’s stance on the military and its leadership, Gandapur clarified, “We are neither against the institution nor any individual within it. Our opposition lies with certain policies, which we believe need rectification.” He underscored that PTI’s demands for its rights remain both lawful and peaceful, adding that the party is calling for investigations into the February 8 elections and the events of May 9.
