Five Killed, One Injured in Attack on Security Personnel in Balochistan’s Panjgur District

Five security personnel were killed and one injured in a targeted attack on a construction camp in Panjgur district’s Paroom tehsil late last night, according to district authorities.

Officials reported that the victims were stationed at a camp providing security for a construction company operating in the area. Armed assailants stormed the camp, opening fire on the security personnel. In addition to the casualties, the attackers also set fire to the company’s machinery before fleeing the scene.

This incident follows a similarly tragic attack in August, where armed gunmen ambushed passenger vehicles on the national highway in Balochistan’s Musakhel district. At least 23 passengers were killed after the gunmen forced them off buses and trucks. During that incident, the attackers also set ten vehicles ablaze.

SP Ayub Achakzai, who oversaw the response to the Musakhel incident, confirmed that security forces, including the Frontier Corps (FC), police, and Levies, worked together to transfer the deceased to the hospital. Both events highlight the severe security challenges in Balochistan, where attacks on infrastructure projects and civilian transportation continue to be a significant concern.
