Noman Ali’s Eight-Wicket Haul Leads Pakistan to 152-Run Victory Over England in Multan Test
Multan—Pakistan leveled the Test series 1-1 against England with a resounding 152-run victory in the second Test on Friday, thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by spinner Noman Ali, who took 8-46 in England’s second innings.
Chasing a challenging target of 297, England were bowled out for just 144 on the fourth day, as Noman and fellow spinner Sajid Khan (2-93) ripped through the visitors’ batting lineup. The victory marked Pakistan’s first Test win on home soil since their triumph over South Africa in February 2021.
Resuming the day at 36-2, England’s Ollie Pope (21*) and Joe Root (12*) hoped to guide their team closer to the target, but Sajid Khan struck early, dismissing Pope after he added just one run to his overnight score.
Noman Ali then took center stage, dismissing Root (18) and Harry Brook (16) in quick succession, reducing England to 78-5. England captain Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse provided some resistance with a 36-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Stokes entertained with a quickfire 37 off 32 balls, including four boundaries, before being stumped off Noman.
Carse followed soon after, scoring 27 off 32 deliveries, as Noman continued to dominate. He completed the job by taking the final two wickets in consecutive balls, wrapping up England’s innings with figures of 8-46.
Sajid Khan, who led Pakistan’s bowling attack in England’s first innings with 7-111, contributed two key wickets in the second innings as well.
This emphatic win sets up an exciting finale in the series as both teams head into the third and final Test.
