Woman Accused of Running Marriage Trap for Kidnapping Arrested in Sindh

Karachi, Pakistan – Police have arrested a woman involved in a kidnapping ring that lured victims into marriage traps in Sindh’s notorious Katcha area. According to SSP Aneel Haider of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), the suspect, identified as Tania Rano, was apprehended for working alongside dacoits to kidnap unsuspecting citizens.

Tania, the wife of gang member Badeel Shar, played a key role in the scheme by communicating with victims through video calls and convincing them to meet her under the pretense of marriage. Once the victims agreed, they were taken to the gang’s base in Kashmore and Ghotki, where they were held for ransom.

SSP Haider revealed that Tania facilitated the gang’s operations using a SIM card provided by courier service when she arrived in Karachi. Initially working for one group, she was later approached by another gang that offered her a share in exchange for her assistance.

Tania had contacts across Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expanding the reach of the kidnapping network. Police were able to rescue a man from Lahore who had already been lured by Tania, preventing him from falling into the hands of the dacoits.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the efforts to curb organized crime in the region.
