Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Arrives in Islamabad for SCO Meeting
Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday to participate in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase by Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, Director General for South Asia at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Children dressed in traditional Pakistani attire greeted the dignitaries, presenting them with bouquets of flowers as a gesture of hospitality. A red carpet welcome was arranged to emphasize the significance of the event and the cordial relations extended to the guests.
The two-day meeting of the SCO CHG, which is the second-highest decision-making body within the organization, will be chaired by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan took over the rotating chairmanship for the 2023-24 term during the previous meeting held in Bishkek on October 26, 2023, where former interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani represented the country.
This meeting reflects the ongoing diplomatic engagements within the SCO framework, aimed at fostering regional cooperation among member states.
