Man Commits Suicide Over Unpaid Electricity Bill in Taxila

A 38-year-old man, Nadeem Akhter, tragically took his own life on Sunday after being overwhelmed by financial difficulties and a mounting electricity bill. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Taxila police station.

According to police, Akhter, a resident of Mohallah Parri near the railway station, had been struggling financially, and an electricity bill of Rs50,072 only worsened his situation. He had been unable to pay a previous bill of Rs38,000 for August, and the September bill arrived with a warning that his electricity would be disconnected if not paid within two days.

Akhter had a heated argument with his wife over the unpaid bill before going to the roof of his house, where he fatally slit his throat with a knife. A nearby shopkeeper rushed him to the hospital, but Akhter succumbed to his injuries.

Akhter leaves behind two sons and two daughters. After completing legal formalities, his body was handed over to his family.
