First Batch of Palestinian Medical Students from Gaza Arrives in Lahore to Continue Studies
A group of 27 Palestinian medical students from war-torn Gaza has arrived in Lahore to pursue their medical education in Pakistan. The students, who traveled via an international airline from Istanbul, were transported to a local hotel under strict security arrangements upon their arrival.
The facilitation of their journey was coordinated by the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo and representatives of the Al-Khidmat Foundation, who assisted the students in their departure from Cairo International Airport to Lahore.
This group is part of a larger contingent of 192 Palestinian medical and dental students from Gaza who will continue their education in Pakistan. The initiative is part of a fully funded program under the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at providing these students an opportunity to complete their studies in various Pakistani medical institutes.
Earlier, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) granted special permission for Palestinian students to continue their education in Pakistan. The decision was made following a request from Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London. According to PMDC officials, around 100 medical and dental students from Gaza are expected to arrive in Pakistan in total.
The PMDC president emphasized that the students will be placed in different medical and dental colleges across the country, with a dedicated committee overseeing the smooth completion of their education. This initiative reflects Pakistan’s continued support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to helping those affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
