11 Dead, 8 Injured as Firing Incidents Rock Kurram District
KURRAM: Violence erupted once again in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district as a deadly clash between two rival tribes claimed the lives of at least 11 people, officials told Geo News on Saturday. The incident occurred in the Kunj Alizai mountains, located near the Pak-Afghan border.
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javidullah Mehsud confirmed that six others were injured in the fighting and have been transported to a hospital for treatment. He added that authorities are working to secure the roads and restore order in the district.
Local police reported that security forces have reached the area and launched an investigation into the latest outbreak of violence.
This is the latest flare-up in a long-standing dispute between the two tribes over land. Last month, clashes in the region resulted in 60 deaths and numerous injuries, according to KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The violence had briefly subsided after the two sides agreed to a two-month ceasefire in August, following clashes that killed 50 people and wounded 226 others.
The Pak-Afghan border crossing at Kharlachi, which had been closed due to the unrest, was recently reopened, but tensions remain high in the region. Authorities are now working to prevent further violence and bring the situation under control.
