PM Shehbaz Announces Salary Raise for Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a salary raise for the Islamabad Police, bringing their pay in line with that of the Punjab Police. The announcement was made during his address at the ‘Police Darbar’ held at the Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad.

In his speech, PM Shehbaz praised the bravery and dedication of the Islamabad Police, particularly for their role in successfully managing a recent violent political rally in the federal capital. He assured that all possible financial resources would be provided to enhance the professional training and capacity building of the police force, with the aim of transforming it into a model law enforcement body.

The prime minister highlighted his government’s commitment to police reforms, recalling initiatives such as the Punjab Safe City Project, Dolphin Force, and Elite Force that were launched during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab. He emphasized that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has always prioritized modernizing the police force.

Addressing the event, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the prime minister’s visit, describing it as a gesture of acknowledgment for the police’s dedication to public safety. He also noted that over the past five months, the crime rate in Islamabad has decreased by 38%, commending the tireless efforts of the security forces.

Upon his arrival, the prime minister was given a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out police contingent. He laid a floral wreath at the Monument of Martyrs, offered fateha, and met with the families of the fallen officers, offering condolences and prayers for the martyrs.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar was also in attendance at the event.

Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Islamabad to review arrangements for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and senior officials briefed the prime minister on the reception preparations for the international delegates attending the event.
