Sahil Adeem Declared Fugitive Following Indecent Remarks Against Sindhi Community
KARACHI: A judicial magistrate in Karachi has declared well-known Pakistani public speaker Sahil Adeem a fugitive after he failed to appear in court following accusations of making derogatory remarks against the Sindhi community.
The case was filed by a lawyer at the City Court police station in Karachi after Adeem’s controversial comments about the Sindhi nation during one of his speeches. In response, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant and ordered the confiscation of Adeem’s property. Despite these actions, Adeem has not appeared in court.
The magistrate has now directed authorities to publish sketches of Adeem in newspapers to aid in his arrest. Advocate Abdul Fateh Chandio confirmed that the court has instructed law enforcement to apprehend Adeem wherever he may be found. However, investigators have so far been unable to trace his whereabouts, and doubts remain about the likelihood of his arrest in the near future.
This development comes after the Karachi city court issued arrest warrants for Adeem last month, citing his use of inappropriate language against the state. The court had ordered him to appear on September 24, a directive he ignored.
Earlier, Sahil Adeem faced additional criticism when a resolution was submitted to the Sindh Assembly Secretariat condemning his derogatory remarks about women during a TV show. The resolution, introduced by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmaker Marvi Faseeh, labeled Adeem’s comments as a violation of religious, social, and legal values, and noted the distress caused to women by his statements.
