University of Karachi Confers Honorary Doctorate on Dr. Zakir Naik for Contributions to Islam
Karachi—The University of Karachi has awarded an honorary doctorate degree (honoris causa) to renowned Islamic scholar and speaker Dr. Zakir Naik in recognition of his contributions to the field of Islam. The degree was conferred by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who also serves as the university’s chancellor.
Dr. Naik, who is currently visiting Pakistan as a state guest at the invitation of the government, is set to deliver public addresses across multiple cities, including Lahore and Islamabad, during his stay until October 28. He has already met with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and delivered a speech in Karachi.
During the convocation ceremony, Governor Tessori commended Dr. Naik’s role in Islamic debates and expressed optimism for his continued dedication to spreading the message of Islam.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries such as consul generals, the chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, university officials, and faculty members. The honorary degree was approved by the University of Karachi’s Syndicate in recognition of Dr. Naik’s significant services to Islam.
