PTI Leader Zartaj Gul Released from Dera Ghazi Khan Jail

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul has been released from the central jail in Dera Ghazi Khan following an order from the High Court. The court had directed her release a day earlier.

Gul had earlier approached the Peshawar High Court (PHC) seeking transit bail after a case was registered against her in Islamabad for participating in a public rally on September 8. In her plea, she highlighted that many members of the National Assembly (MNAs) had been arrested from within the Parliament House, and requested bail to avoid immediate arrest.

Zartaj Gul’s release follows the detention of several PTI leaders and activists. Among those arrested were PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen, along with MNAs Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram, who were detained inside the Parliament House. Additionally, police have arrested Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak.
