Sindh CM Convenes Emergency Meeting Following Karachi Airport Blast, Orders Joint Probe
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired an emergency meeting on Monday to address the law and order situation in Karachi after a suicide bomb blast near Jinnah International Airport that targeted a convoy transporting Chinese nationals.
The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials including the Interior Minister, IG Sindh, DG Rangers, and Commissioner Karachi, focused on the recent explosion that killed at least three people and injured 10 others.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suicide bomber had been waiting for the Chinese convoy near the airport before carrying out the attack.
In response, CM Murad Ali Shah directed the formation of a joint investigation committee consisting of police and other law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. He condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable,” and emphasized the need for improved coordination among security forces.
The chief minister also instructed law enforcement agencies to bolster intelligence gathering efforts to prevent future attacks and ensure the safety of citizens. Strengthening cooperation between security agencies was a key focus of the meeting.
