Pakistan to Hold APC and Solidarity Events on October 7 in Support of Palestine
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the convening of an All Parties Conference (APC) on October 7 to formulate a unified stance on the ongoing crisis in Palestine. The APC will coincide with a nationwide Day of Solidarity, organized to express support for Palestinian men, women, and children suffering from Israeli aggression.
The decision was made during a meeting at the Prime Minister House with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), led by its Ameer, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.
It was agreed that public gatherings and seminars would be held across Pakistan on October 7 to denounce Israeli actions in Gaza and Palestine and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. A special committee comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Sherry Rehman, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Nayyar Bukhari was formed to organize the APC and oversee events for the Day of Solidarity.
President Asif Ali Zardari will also attend the APC, while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended his full support for the Day of Solidarity, condemning the ongoing oppression of Palestinians. Participants in the meeting resolved to raise their voices against Israeli brutality and violence against innocent civilians in Gaza and the wider Palestine region.
The leaders praised Jamaat-e-Islami for taking the initiative to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for highlighting the issue on the international stage, particularly during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. The JI Ameer also applauded the Pakistani delegation’s walkout during the Israeli prime minister’s speech at the UN, a move led by Prime Minister Sharif in protest of Israeli atrocities.
