Islamabad Police Arrest Imran Khan’s Sisters Amid Crackdown on PTI Protests
Islamabad police arrested Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, from D-Chowk as they attempted to join party workers for a planned demonstration.
The sisters were detained as they arrived to participate in the protest, which comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the PTI. They have since been moved to the secretariat police station.
Earlier in the day, the Punjab government deployed Rangers personnel in four cities—Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha—after invoking Section 144, which prohibits political gatherings, protests, and rallies. This measure is aimed at maintaining law and order in the face of potential unrest.
In Lahore, the Punjab government specifically requested the deployment of three companies of Rangers for October 5. Section 144 will remain in effect in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha from Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6, in an effort to control any potential disturbances associated with the protests.
