Ministry of Finance Increases Diyat Amount to Rs8.1 Million for FY 2024-25

Islamabad — The Ministry of Finance has revised the Diyat amount for the fiscal year 2024-25, setting it at Rs8,103,955. This marks an increase of Rs1,346,053 from the previous year’s figure of Rs6,757,902, reflecting the rise in the market price of silver.

According to the official notification, the updated Diyat amount is now equivalent to the value of 30,630 grams of silver. The adjustment is in accordance with subsection (2) of Section 323 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which mandates that the Diyat amount be revised annually in line with changes in the silver market.

Diyat, or “blood money,” is a form of financial compensation paid in cases of murder or bodily harm under Islamic law. The increase in the Diyat amount ensures its alignment with the current market value of silver, as prescribed by law.
