ASI Suspended After Medico-Legal Report Confirms Rape of Woman Student
Sargodha – An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) has been suspended following the confirmation of rape allegations against him in a medico-legal report. The officer is accused of sexually assaulting a woman student after arresting her father in a drugs-related case.
According to police sources, the ASI, with the assistance of his private guard, allegedly raped the woman after luring her under the pretext of securing her father’s release. The District Police Officer (DPO) has since formed a two-member investigation committee to thoroughly probe the case, with orders to submit a report within 24 hours.
The incident unfolded when the woman’s father was arrested by the ASI in connection with a drugs case. The victim disclosed that the ASI’s private guard had contacted her, falsely promising to help free her father. She was then taken to an abandoned house in Muazzamabad town, where the assault occurred. The victim’s father reported that his daughter was later left outside their home in a semi-conscious state.
A case against the ASI was filed at Kotmomin police station, and the police are now conducting raids to apprehend the involved suspects. Departmental action has also been initiated against the arrested policeman.
The incident highlights the alarming prevalence of rape and sexual assault cases in Pakistan. Just last month, a minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Karachi, while police in Faisalabad arrested two suspects linked to a gang-rape case in Painsra town. These cases continue to expose the urgent need for stronger measures to address violence against women in the country.
