Punjab Govt to Purchase Luxury Vehicles for PML-N Parliamentary Secretaries

Lahore – The Punjab government has reportedly decided to buy luxury vehicles for PML-N parliamentary secretaries, according to sources cited by ARY News.

The purchase, estimated to cost a staggering Rs. 61.2475 million, involves a total of 76 cars.

Sources reveal that 22 of these cars, each valued between Rs. 22-29 million, will be allocated to parliamentary secretaries. Additionally, 15 cars, costing Rs. 9.96 million each, will be procured for the Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD). The request for the purchase of the 76 vehicles was made by the Additional Chief Secretary of Punjab.

This decision comes on the heels of a similar initiative by the Sindh government, which had planned to buy new vehicles worth Rs. 2 billion for its assistant commissioners. Sindh’s General Administration Department had formally requested the release of funds to purchase 138 double-cabin vehicles for day-to-day use by the assistant commissioners. However, the Sindh High Court (SHC) intervened, barring the provincial government from moving forward with the purchase.

The Punjab government’s decision to proceed with this high-cost vehicle acquisition may stir debate amid economic concerns and public scrutiny over the use of taxpayer funds for luxury expenses.
