Quetta Blast Injures 12, Including Two Police Officers

At least 12 people, including two police officers, were injured in an explosion near a police mobile on Quetta’s eastern bypass, police told Geo News on Wednesday.

Rescue officials discovered a wrecked motorcycle at the blast site, and law enforcement officers suspect that explosive material was planted in the vehicle. A bomb disposal squad was called to the scene to assess the situation and determine the nature of the explosion.

The injured have been transferred to Civil Sandeman Hospital for treatment, police officials said.

CM Balochistan Condemns Attack

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the explosion and directed the relevant authorities to ensure medical care for the injured. “Terrorists will be brought to justice,” Bugti stated, emphasizing that action against such attackers would continue.

The blast follows a similar incident just two days earlier when a remote-controlled bomb targeted a police van escorting a convoy of foreign diplomats in Malam Jabba, Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). In that attack, one police officer was killed, and four others were injured, while the foreign envoys remained unharmed.

Rising Violence in Pakistan

Pakistan has been grappling with an increase in violent attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. These provinces have seen a sharp rise in attacks, according to data from the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), with last month witnessing a notable escalation in deadly incidents.
