PTA and FIA Conduct Raids in Jhang, Seize Suspicious SIM Cards and Arrest Individuals
Faisalabad — The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle Faisalabad, carried out successful raids on two telecom company franchisees in Jhang City and Garh Moor, District Jhang, as part of a crackdown on the illegal issuance of SIM cards.
According to a press release, the FIA apprehended the owner of the telecom franchise in Jhang City, seizing one mobile phone, two biometric verification system (BVS) devices, and 57 suspicious SIM cards.
During the second raid in Garh Moor, authorities arrested two individuals and confiscated a significant amount of suspicious materials, including 39 SIM cards, two mobile phones, one laptop, two BVS devices, 32 original CNICs, 800 CNIC copies, and 161 signed stamp papers with thumb impressions.
This operation is part of PTA’s ongoing campaign to combat the illegal issuance of SIM cards, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to addressing this issue and ensuring better regulation of telecommunications services.
