Balochistan Minister Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki Passes Away at 55
Karachi — Balochistan’s Municipal Minister, Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki, passed away at the age of 55 on Monday in Karachi, following a prolonged battle with lung and kidney diseases. Domki had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city for the past 10 days before succumbing to his illness.
His brother, Sardar Hair Bayar Khan Domki, confirmed that the late minister’s body would be transported to Lehri in Balochistan’s Sibbi district, where he will be laid to rest in the family’s ancestral graveyard.
In response to the news, former President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences, stating, “In this time of sorrow, my sympathies are with the bereaved family members of Sardar Sarfaraz Domki.”
Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, also mourned the loss of the late minister, highlighting his contributions to the region’s political and tribal systems. “Sarfaraz was a shrewd, reliable politician and a tribal figure,” Bugti said, adding that Domki had played a positive role as an active member of the Balochistan cabinet.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed grief, praising Domki’s contributions to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), remarking, “Sarfaraz’s services for PPP will always be remembered.”
Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki had been a key political figure in Balochistan for over a decade. In 2024, he was re-elected to the Balochistan Assembly from PB-8 in Sibbi, securing 27,677 votes on a PPP-P ticket. He had previously served as the provincial minister for Labour and Management from 2018 to 2023, and briefly held the portfolio for Culture, Archives, and Tourism in 2018.
Domki’s political journey began in 2013, and he remained a prominent figure in the province’s political landscape, balancing both his political role and tribal leadership within Balochistan.
