Pakistan Suffers 2-1 Defeat Against India in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024

Pakistan faced a narrow 2-1 defeat against arch-rivals India in their Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 clash on Saturday, held at the Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir, China.

Pakistan initially took the lead with a well-executed play, as Hannan Shahid set up a skillful pass for Ahmad Nadeem, who found the back of the net. However, India quickly responded, scoring two consecutive goals to gain control of the match.

Despite multiple attacking attempts, the third and fourth quarters remained goalless. India’s captain, Harmanpreet Singh, scored both goals for his team, with the second coming in the second quarter.

Both Pakistan and India have advanced to the semi-finals, with India finishing the round stage unbeaten and securing the top position on the points table. This was Pakistan’s first loss in the tournament after previously defeating China 5-1 and Japan, with their opening two games ending in draws against Malaysia and South Korea.

The round stage concludes today, with the semi-finals set to take place on September 17.
