South Waziristan: A remote-controlled bomb attack targeted a police van in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan, injuring 13 people, including six police personnel and seven civilians, according to hospital officials speaking to Geo News on Monday.
The attack occurred on Kir Kot Road in Wana’s Rustam Bazar, where a police van was hit by the blast. Rescue teams quickly responded to the scene, transporting the injured to District Headquarters Hospital Wana, with one critically injured victim transferred to Dera Ismail Khan for further treatment.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Hamad Mahmood confirmed that both civilians and police officers were among those wounded in the explosion.
Police sources revealed that the attack coincided with the start of an anti-polio campaign in the region. At the time of the blast, two police vehicles were en route to Krikot Road to provide security for polio workers when one of the vehicles was targeted.
The area has been cordoned off, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
